What is a the NADKC
NADKC Goals As an affiliate club of the Deutsch Kurzhaar Verband, (DKV) the German Shorthair Association of Germany and the Jagdgebrauchshundverband, (JGHV) hunting dog association in Germany, the NADKC supports these goals: to promote and improve the Deutsch Kurzhaar (German Shorthair) in accordance with the principles originated by the DKV; to provide cooperative, trainable Deutsch Kurzhaars for the foot-hunter, developed through breeding programs as set forth by the DKV; to sponsor and participate in events which are designed to evaluate all hunting qualities, temperament and conformation of the Deutsch Kurzhaar and other versatile hunting dogs; to familiarize hunters with the history, use and characteristics of the Deutsch Kurzhaar; to support the efforts of other versatile hunting dog breeding and testing organizations; and promote through the education of club members, the importance of wildlife preservation.
We embrace the German breeding regulations and realize that their testing system is the most consistent and best method to predict and measure the breeding worth and usefulness of a practical, versatile gun dog–and that is what we strive for. It is the firm belief of the NADKC that the versatile gun dog movement in North America is only in its infancy. We see the German registered and tested DK as the epitome of the breed. We embrace the German breeding regulations and realize that their testing system is the most consistent and best method to predict and measure the breeding worth and usefulness of a practical, versatile gun dog–and that is what we strive for. In order to qualify for the privilege to be bred, dogs must be evaluated in temperament, conformation and be successful in hunting tests. This assures the buyer that puppies from NADKC, DKV and/or JGHV tested parents have been bred from dogs with proven hunting abilities and temperament, as well as conformation.

Which Registries are the pups registered in
As an approved NAKC kennel, as well as NAVHDA approved Kennel, Our Pups are only registered within the parent club in Germany . While our puppies are eligible to be registered within the AKC and NAVHDA registries we will leave that up to you.
How old are the puppies when they go to thier new homes
Our pups do not leave our residence prior to 8 weeks of age.Prior to a pup going to their new homes the litter as well as the damn are inspected by a representative of the NADKC. All pups must be tattooed, (option of the breeder) and chipped which is done at the time of litter inspection. Our pups do not leave our residence prior to 8 weeks of age.
Who is allowed to breed within the DK system
Only an approved pair after qualifying for breeding can be bred following the guidelines set forth by the NADKC. The breeder must be an approved kennel designated by the parent club in Germany
Do you provide a written agreement
Yes we do. We do not place an individual on our litter list until we receive a signed agreement from the perspeftive puppy buyer. The agreement is elestconically emaild for review and signatures. Once we receive the agreement with the bnuyers signature we will then mail or snail mail a copy of the agreement back with our signatures.
Do the pups come with a health certificate
Yes , upon picking up a puppy you will receive a written health certificate from our veterinarian, included are all shot records. We require that you have the puppy exaamined by your own vetranarian with a copy of that examination sent back to us.
Do you sell to non-hunting homes
We work hard at determining the correct match for our breeding. In doing so we will only place one of our puppies in a hunting envirnment.
Are your dogss family companions as well as hunting companions
.There are no kennels at our home, our dogs are valued members of the family. Our litters are whelped in the home and remain in our home until pick up of puppy.
Will you ship a puppy
No we will not ship a puppy. All pups are picked up at our residence
Can we name our Puppy
The registration of a puppy is done in Germany. So that all the paperwork is ready for you upon the pick up of a pup, we name all pups within the litter. All puppies are named/registered designated by the letter of the breeding. The call name of your puppy is a name of your choice.
Do you have puppies on Demand
No we are not a commercial kennel. Our breedings are selective and few if at all. In many instances our breedings are planned out a year or more prior to the actual breeding. When and if we do decide to breed a litter typically our litters are sold out a year or so in advance of the breeding.
Can we reserve a puppy by color
We can not reserve a puppy for specific coloration.
Do You provide refereneces
Yes, we encourage a prospective buyer to speak to others that we have placed a puppy with. We also encourage a perspective buyer to reach out to as many other breedings as possible. The more homework you do the better educated you will become in making your decision as to which breeder you decide to go with. A breeder should always be willing to answer any and all questions you many have. Remember when you are interviewing the breeder a dedicated breeder should be interviewing you as well.
what is the temperament of your dogs
The temperament of your dog is influenced by the environment in which the dog lives and how they are raised to be. Typically our dogs are calm, loving and valued members of the family. Our breeding is selected with much thought and effort to ensure they are capable to learn and to develop into a fine hunting dog and family companion. The envoprnment /training in which a pup is placed will determine the outcome of your dog. Nose, desire, intelligence and heart are the result of a careful selective breeding. The end result is up to you.
